Every unlock is a chance to pause—a verse, today’s Gospel, or a quiet symbol of faith before you scroll.
Before you start
- Install Catholic Daily from the App Store and open it once.
- Lock Screen widgets work on iOS 16+. Choose your language and topics in the app first so the first refresh shows the right content.
Add a daily quote, Gospel, or calendar widget
- Long-press your Lock Screen and tap Customize.
- Select the Lock Screen you want to edit, then tap a widget slot above or below the time.
- Search for Catholic Daily and choose a style that fits the space—compact lines work well beside the clock (including the liturgical calendar widget).
- Tap Done, then set your Lock Screen as active if prompted.
The widget updates according to your refresh frequency in the app—once or twice daily, every 6 hours, or every 2 hours.
Jesus and Cross symbol widgets
Catholic Daily also offers dedicated Lock Screen symbol widgets:
- In the app, open Settings.
- Tap Jesus Symbol or Cross Symbol and pick a design you love.
- Add the matching Catholic Daily symbol widget on the Lock Screen the same way as above.
The symbol on your Lock Screen may take a few seconds to match your choice in Settings.
Tips
- Pair a Lock Screen widget with a Home Screen widget for morning and unlock moments.
- If a symbol or quote does not update, open the app once, then wait a moment or remove and re-add the widget.
